The Broker Expert Awards aims to shine a light on excellence by recognising Insurance and Financial Brokers who offer the highest level of professionalism, innovation, performance, and service to their clients.

The 2023 Broker Expert Awards are now CLOSED for Insurance and Financial Broker firms which fully understand the environment in which they operate and, at its core, truly understand their customers’ needs and the market. 

These prestigious awards apply to brokerage firms (not individual Brokers) and any member of Brokers Ireland can participate and nominate for the Broker Expert Awards. Before completing your online nomination form, please carefully review all accompanying information relating to the Broker Expert Awards. The 8 categories for the Broker Expert Awards include:  

PERSONAL LINES BROKER EXPERT 2023

The judges will be looking for a Broker in the personal lines arena that has managed to excel in the current economic environment. 

This should demonstrate itself in several of the following:

  • Levels of customer service and staff engagement
  • Levels of growth and profitability
  • How they have responded to the demands of consumers with a product/scheme/offering relevant to their needs
  • Possible use of marketing/technology/social media to increase profitable market share 

The judges will look at the overall performance of the Broker but will expect evidence in support of any claims made regarding the performance of the business.

COMMERCIAL LINES BROKER EXPERT 2023

Open to Insurance Brokers for whom over 50% of their business is commercial lines.

The judges will be looking for a Broker that has excelled in the current economic environment.

This could demonstrate itself in levels of:

  • On-going customer service, growth, profitability
  • Introduction of a particular initiative or the addressing of a particular market need.

The judges will look at the overall performance of the Broker but will expect evidence in support of any claims made regarding the performance of the business.

INNOVATIVE BROKER EXPERT 2023

This new award will seek out entries who can demonstrate a track record of innovation and creativity in developing new products, services, or business models.

Areas that will be considered include:

  1. Impact: Showing the impact of your innovative ideas on your organization, industry, or society. This could be measured in terms of revenue growth, market share, customer satisfaction, or other relevant metrics.
  2. Collaboration: Demonstrating an ability to work collaboratively with others to develop and implement innovative solutions.
  3. Thought leadership: Demonstrating thought leadership in the field of innovation through publications, speaking engagements, or other thought leadership activities.
  4. Adaptability: Demonstrating an ability to adapt to changing circumstances and navigate uncertainty in pursuit of innovation.
  5. Problem-solving: Demonstrating an ability to identify and solve complex problems through innovative solutions.
  6. Customer-centricity: Showing a focus on meeting customer needs through innovative solutions.
  7. Continuous learning: Demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and staying up- to-date with the latest trends and best practices in innovation.
  8. Results: Providing evidence of tangible results achieved through innovation, such as increased revenue, improved efficiency, or other measurable outcomes.

WHOLESALE BROKER EXPERT 2023

The judges will be looking for a company that can demonstrate a real commitment to meeting specific customer needs and delivering a high quality of service across its wholesale business.

This should be coupled with a proven track record of success in terms of innovative and profitable expansion in existing markets along with development of products or schemes for new markets.

The successful entrant will give statistical proof of the above along with evidence around: 

  • Training of staff
  • Successful partnership programmes with insurer partners
  • The ability to market to niche audiences.

PENSIONS BROKER EXPERT 2023

The judges will be looking for a Financial Broker who provides high-quality services to their clients. Please indicate what proportion of business is dedicated to this product (Award) area.

Consideration will be given to the following:

  1. Performance: Brokers will be evaluated based on their track record of achieving returns for their clients over the past year, three years, and five years. Outline of the operational structure of the team or colleagues who manage this product area.
  2. Reputation/Contribution: Judges will consider the Broker’s reputation in the industry and its contribution, as well as client feedback and the Brokers involvement within the community. Please indicate the cultural approach to sustainability, diversity, and inclusiveness (if applicable)
  3. Services Offered: The range and quality of services offered by the Broker will be evaluated, including investment options, advice and guidance, risk management, compliance, and reporting. A clear understanding of standout benefits for clients buying/getting advice on this area through your Brokerage? In selling this product, what set’s you apart from your competition?
  4. Innovation and Technology: The Broker’s use of technology and innovation to enhance their services will be considered.
  5. Customer Service: Judges will assess the level of customer service provided by the Broker, including the responsiveness and quality of customer support and the overall client experience.
  6. Industry Recognition: Any industry awards or recognition received by the Broker will also be taken into consideration. Outline any Educational achievements within your company.

JUDGING PROCESS

Nominees will be judged on the following weighted criteria:  

  • Completion of question 5: (10%)
  • Completion of question 7: Key considerations as outlined within the ‘principal submission section’ of the nomination form (60%)
  • Submission of additional attachments 1: Customer reference (15%) 
  • Submission of additional attachments 2:  Your Brokerage’s contribution to the local community and wider industry community (15%) 

Please note, that only members of Brokers Ireland can submit a nomination form for the awards. All Broker Expert Award submissions will be reviewed by an independent Judges.

NEXT STEPS 

Once the judging panel has reviewed and shortlisted nomination forms under each Broker Expert Award category, the full list of shortlisted companies will be announced by October 2023 and the overall winners of each product category will be announced at the Broker Expert Awards gala ceremony event on Thursday 09th November 2023. Winners will also be published online and in the Irish Broker magazine.

HOW TO SUBMIT 

The deadline for submissions for the Broker Expert Award nominations is now Closed. Brokers Ireland has already received a large volume of member submissions across all award categories, so THE GAME IS ON for the 2023 Broker Expert Awards!
