Our client an Irish owned and managed Underwriting Agency based in South County Dublin that distributes general lines insurance products through a network of independent Insurance Brokers in the Republic of Ireland, is looking for a Motor Claims Team Manager to join and lead a great team who are committed to providing outstanding levels of claims service to both Brokers and Customers


Claims Team Manager


The Claims Team Manager is responsible for the strategic, technical and operational leadership of the claims function, role modelling and guarding company values. As a member of the senior management team, the Claims Team Manager is responsible for driving the development and implementation of effective claims practices that deliver business objectives – constantly striving to improve efficiency, productivity, accuracy and governance whilst delivering a great claims service.

The Claims Manager is accountable for the day to day performance of the claims function.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Providing strategic, operational and technical leadership to the claims team – developing a high performing culture, high team engagement and high personal commitment.
  • Leading a culture of continuous improvement within the claims team – encouraging and leading constant review of procedures and practices to ensure they remain optimal for the business, compliance and the consumer.
  • Leading the culture of compliance within the claims team – including maintaining documented oversight of governance and compliance (including but not limited to QA and appropriate KPIs).
  • Leading the development of, implementation of, and adherence to, effective claims management practices and procedures – including chronicling performance.
  • Leading the development and implementation of effective Fraud management strategies.
  • Leading the development and implementation of accurate Reserving Philosophies.
  • Monitoring productivity and individual queues in order to effectively distribute, prioritise and manage team work.
  • Identify skill and knowledge gaps and provide guidance, coaching and training to the claims team – building skills, knowledge, experience and succession.
  • Performance management of direct reports.
  • Ensuring the claims team comply with requirements of Capacity Provider contracts: developing / utilising KPIs for oversight.
  • Relationship management of Insurer partner counterparts as appropriate.
  • Management of the panel of appointed solicitors and investigators, including development of appropriate KPIs.
  • Professional vendor management – including tender management, contract negotiation, audit and development / use of commercial, compliance and service KPIs.
  • Supporting Underwriting with technical / operational expertise when developing new and existing products.
  • Management of personal caseload of complex cases.
  • Any other activities as may be required from time to time.
