The 2019 MyBrokers Ireland Awards take place at the Annual Brokers Ireland lunch on Friday 11th October in the Round Room, Mansion House, Dublin. The awards are the ideal way to showcase individual Broker’s skills and expertise to peers, clients and insurer partners. Awards are open to General & Financial Brokers.*

Nominate your own brokerage team, fellow staff members or colleagues for the 2019 awards and help to celebrate hard work, innovation and achievement amongst Broker staff within our industry.  This event is being kindly supported by Aviva.

Nomination must be submitted to events@brokersireland.ie no later than Friday 20 September 2019.

*With the exception of Personal Lines Team of the Year and Commercial Lines Team of the Year. All other awards accept Financial Brokers as well as General.

MYBROKERS IRELAND 2019 AWARD CRITERIA


Open to General Insurance Brokers serving the personal lines market. The Award is an opportunity to recognise teams of staff who foster co-operation, collaboration and open communication. Eligible teams should be comprised of staff who have collaborated and worked together on a project or significant effort that advances organisational goals. The nomination should be for teams of more than one but fewer than 10. Entrant teams demonstrate a combination of some or all of the following:

  • How they have responded to the demands of consumers with a product/scheme/offering relevant to their needs
  •  Top quality service
  • Evidence of any value-added services or support
  • Evidence of product and/or service innovation in the context of profitable growth
  • How a Broker used marketing/technology/social media to increase penetration and maximise the potential of the product/scheme/offering
  • Testimonials from Principal or Insurance Providers will help validate an entry

Open to General Insurance Brokers serving the SME and mid-corporate markets. The Award is an opportunity to recognise teams of staff who foster co-operation, collaboration and open communication. Eligible teams should be comprised of staff who have collaborated and worked together on a project or significant effort that advances organisational goals. The nomination should be for teams of more than one but fewer than 10. Entrant teams demonstrate a combination of some or all of the following:

  • How they have responded to the demands of SME/Mid-Corporate customers with a product/scheme/offering relevant to their needs
  • Top quality service
  • Evidence of any value-added services or support such as risk management
  • How a broker used marketing/technology/social media to increase penetration and maximise the potential of the product/scheme/offering
  • Testimonials from Principal will help validate an entry

Open to General Insurance and Financial Brokers. The Award is an opportunity to recognise teams of staff who foster co-operation, collaboration and open communication. Eligible teams should be comprised of staff who have collaborated and worked together on a project or significant effort that advances organisational goals. The nomination should be for teams of more than one but fewer than 10. Entrant teams demonstrate a combination of some or all of the following:

  • Sets and exceeds goals
  • Customer relationship-builder
  • Has a successful and consistent sales record
  • Understands client business
  • Maintains cool in difficult sales situations
  • Strong presenter in a group or one-on-one
  • Maintains agency/client contact
  • Responsive to clients’ needs
  • Meets and exceeds clients’ deadlines
  • Regularly brings new ideas to clients
  • Provides strong alternative recommendations to clients
  • Knows how to close
  • Understands and applies marketing prowess in sales

Open to General and Financial Brokers. The Team Leader award will be given to a manager/leader who’s efforts fully support his/hers brokerage business goals while demonstrating extraordinary support and leadership to their team. The team leader must lead at least 3 members of staff, possess excellent leadership qualities and be highly respected by fellow team members.

  • Measurable Efficiencies: Improved a process, outcome or focus
  • Results: Demonstrated tangible outcomes such as savings, productivity, increased performance levels amongst the team
  • Motivational: leading, managing and inspiring brokerage colleagues
  • Testimonials from team members and/or Broker principal

Educational Achievement Awards (Both Life and General Insurance)
Open to anyone within a brokerage that is a member of the Brokers Ireland. The judges will be looking for a person who has:

  • Made significant strides in their professional development over the past year
  • Can clearly demonstrate their contribution to the team or department in which he or she works
  • Evidence of commitment to pursuing relevant professional qualifications
  • Grades achieved
  • All nominations must be made or supported by the person’s manager

Open to General and Financial Brokers. The Young Insurance Broker of the Year Award aims to encourage commitment to the future professionalism of the Irish insurance industry. The award recognises young Brokers who exhibit an outstanding level of professionalism and integrity and have demonstrated an excellent performance and contribution to broking.

  • Applicants must be 30 years old or under on date of entry and have at least three years industry experience
  • Applicants must have tangible evidence of achievement which can generally fit into any one or more of the following:
    • Personal work achievement – relevant personal details would also be useful e.g. ethics, professionalism, commitment to broking
    • Demonstrated excellence in broking practice – technical competence, managing client relationships, client retention etc.
    • Industry achievements – engagement with the wider business community e.g. industry groups, charity or other worthy causes
    • A statement from your Principal/manager in support of your submission
    • A commitment to his/her personal development including industry qualifications achieved to date and/or current course of study
    • Commitment to the development and promotion of the insurance broking profession

The Outstanding Broker Achievement Award is open to both General and Financial Brokers and recognises outstanding contribution of an individual who has demonstrated excellent work standards, initiative, drive and commitment in always ‘going the extra mile’ for his/her brokerage.

  • The recipient must be a full-time employee a minimum of two year at the time of nomination
  • The recipient must have performed in an outstanding manner within the brokerage in the past two years and those accomplishments delineated on the nomination form. Has assumed a high level of responsibility in work tasks such as handling the more difficult assignments, worked on special projects, made significant contributions to the accomplishment of work group goals and objectives, etc, in the previous year
  • Is recognized as an employee who has good technical expertise and a reputation for excellence in his/her field
  • The employee is known for adherence to high standards of conduct
  • The employee can always be relied upon to come through when a job needs to be done and the supervisor is confident it will be done well
  • The employee is always willing to help someone else out
