Since its launch in September 2016, over 134 school leavers, graduates and career changers have begun their apprenticeships in 62 firms nationwide, mainly Brokers. Targeted primarily at new entrants it is also open to existing employees who have recently started but have limited progress through the insurance examination framework. It enables apprentices to earn a BA (Hons) level 8 degree in three years while they work, through a combination of on-the-job learning and online studying through The Insurance Institute, the LIA and IT Sligo. In addition to gaining the industry qualification of CIP or QFA, apprentices also learn key business skills, such as; communication, teamwork, negotiation skills, creativity and critical thinking, big data, management and marketing. The programme is fully funded by the Government.
