Aviva Ireland (Aviva) Commits to Raising At Least €200,000 Through New Community Partnerships

New two-year partnerships will support vital services – from tackling food waste and supporting older people to improving cardiac health across Ireland

Aviva Ireland (Aviva) has announced new community partnerships with FoodCloud, Age Action and the Dillon Quirke Foundation, alongside a commitment to raise at least €200,000 over the next two years to support their work. These partnerships focus on supporting stronger, inclusive communities at a local level.

Each organisation provides vital services across Ireland, from helping people access food, to supporting older people to live independently, and protecting young lives through cardiac screening and awareness.

Aviva will continue its partnerships with FoodCloud and Age Action and welcomes the Dillon Quirke Foundation as a new partner.

Supporting communities across Ireland

Through these partnerships, Aviva will provide funding and support to help expand essential services across the country.

This includes:

• Funding to support key programmes and services
• Colleague fundraising initiatives
• Colleague volunteering to help organisations reach more people

FoodCloud

FoodCloud is a non-profit social enterprise that tackles food waste by redistributing surplus food to charities and community organisations.

Building on its partnership since 2022, Aviva will continue to support FoodCloud’s work in ensuring good food reaches communities across Ireland.

With Aviva’s support, this has enabled services such as community cafés and family support programmes to expand their reach. Over the past year, this included the equivalent of 145,000 meals, alongside hands on support from Aviva colleagues through sorting food, preparing meals and taking part in gleaning initiatives.

The renewed partnership will build on this impact, helping FoodCloud reach more communities and reduce food waste at scale across Ireland.

Age Action

Age Action is Ireland’s leading advocacy organisation for older people, helping them to live safely, independently and with dignity.

Through the partnership, Aviva has supported:

• Garden improvement projects to create safe and accessible spaces for older people
• Digital skills support, helping older people get online and stay connected
• The Care and Repair programme, which provides free essential home repairs to improve safety and comfort and help maintain independence in the home

The renewed partnership will focus on increasing the reach of the Care and Repair service, helping more people, including those returning from hospital, to stay safe and independent in their own homes.

The Dillon Quirke Foundation

The Dillon Quirke Foundation works to prevent sudden cardiac death through awareness, education and screening. It was established in memory of Dillon Quirke, a young Tipperary hurler who passed away from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) in 2022.

The foundation was also a recipient of the 2024 Aviva Broker Community Fund Charity Award, receiving €20,000, which enabled the screening of an additional 200 young people in 2025.

As part of the partnership, Aviva will support:

• The delivery of 600 SADS cardiac screenings for young people
• Greater awareness of heart health and early detection
• Training and education programmes for sports clubs nationwide

To date, the Foundation has screened more than 23,000 young people across Ireland and found that 1 in 300 has a serious heart condition that needs further medical attention. This highlights the importance of early screening and the difference it can make in saving lives.
