Central Bank Climate Change Capacity Building Report

Thu Mar 28 2024

The Central Bank’s Climate Forum was established in 2022 and is made up of senior-level representatives from the Central Bank and the Irish financial sector which includes a representative of Brokers Ireland, as well as climate risk and sustainable finance experts and academics.

Its main aim is to build and accelerate a shared approach between the financial sector and the Central Bank in the understanding and management of the financial risks and opportunities posed by climate change.

A report from the Climate Risk and Sustainable Finance Forum’s Working Group on Capacity Building was published yesterday.   The report looks at building capacity by enhancing the understanding of climate risk, seeking to address those risks through upskilling, identifying useable tools and frameworks.

Section 5.3 looks at the Broker and Intermediaries sector and outlines the results of the industry climate forum survey which was carried out last year.
