Insurance Charities Launch Partnership to Support Positive Mental Health
Thu Sep 24 2020
The Insurance Charities has partnered with mental health organisation Aware to offer a fully funded positive mental health programme based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The programme is available exclusively through the partnership to those working in the Irish insurance industry, who are experiencing depression, stress and/or anxiety.
Annali-Joy Thornicroft, CEO at The Insurance Charities said, “We have been keen to establish a partnership in Ireland to offer the Irish insurance community extra practical support where needed. This initiative launching next month, comes at a particularly pertinent time and we’re keen to deliver further courses through Aware going forward.”
Speaking about the new partnership Drew Flood, Business Development Executive at Aware said, “We’re delighted to be partnering with The Insurance Charities, delivering Aware’s Life Skills Programme to the insurance community in Ireland. These are very challenging times as we all adjust to a new way of life and we need to look after our mental health now, more than ever. It’s fantastic to see The Insurance Charities prioritise wellbeing by introducing our positive mental health programme to insurance employees in Ireland.”
The Virtual Life Skills Programme is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and has been designed to help people learn more about how they think and how this influences their actions. Committing fully to the Virtual Life Skills Programme, could mark the start of a brand-new chapter for those participating.
The programme will also help attendees to build resilience and equip them with the knowledge and tools to deal with life challenges.
The programme is compiled of eight modules delivered over seven weeks including a week’s break. The sessions will be delivered by Zoom in a relaxed way by a trained professional and each session lasts an hour and a half. There will initially be two programmes available; one via morning sessions and the other taking place in the evenings. Numbers will be limited initially, but additional sessions will be added if they are oversubscribed.
Registration opens on 21st September and both programmes will begin at the start of October. Further details including how to register can be found here.
The Insurance Charities help current and former insurance employees and their families experiencing hardship in the UK and Ireland. Each year we award over £1.7 million and also offer practical support where needed. If you have been furloughed, made redundant or are worried about their future as a result of COVID a fund is now available to cover the full cost of relevant training of the applicants choosing to help secure their future.
