Over Regulation of Intermediaries

Sat Mar 20 2021

Brokers Ireland held a meeting this week with the Department of Enterprise which was primarily to discuss the overregulation of intermediaries which we are committed to combatting. The Department of Enterprise is responsible for the SME and Entrepreneurship Implementation Group, which is tasked with taking forward recommendations made by the SME Task Force in its first Report in January 2021.

A number of the recommendations made by the Task Force have the potential positively to impact intermediaries, particularly the application of both the “think small principle” and the SME test for regulation emanating from the EU. Ireland’s SME Envoy was one of the Civil Servants who took part in the meeting and we were able to raise upcoming EU developments where application of the SME Test would positively benefit our Members.
