This presentation from Zurich will consider the Consumer insurance Contracts Act 2019. Parts of this Act are effective since 01 September 2020 including major changes in Insurable interest, cooling off period, claims handling duties, deferring payment and subrogation. These areas will be discussed by Sarah Fay, Senior Technical Underwriter at Zurich Insurance and how these have changed the way insurance is transacted.
The remaining sections of the Act are being introduced later this year (01 September), and will deal with areas of Utmost good faith, Misrepresentations and Renewal of contract of insurance. These too, will result in changes to proposal forms, and how information is used in the underwriting process. The 5 year claims data and premium change are also coming in in time for 1st September. Sarah will discuss these matters and explain steps insurers and brokers need to take in preparation for the upcoming changes in insurance law.
